A typical project plan would contain a list of tasks, start date, due date, time needed to complete the task, links to tasks that are dependant on the task, ownership of task, and people doing the work.  We aren't going to be so detailed.  Mainly because this isn't a job.  Things come up.  People aren't experienced enough to know how long a task will take.

What we will always list is:

  • Tasks and their description
  • Dependancies - what tasks depend on what other tasks.
  • Ownership - we have to know who is working on what.
  • Status/percent completed - just so we know.
  • Relative priority.  In a normal project plan you don't have this.  All tasks need to be done.  In ours, since we don't have due dates and such, we need to know how important this task is right now....or ever.

Some things on our lists are show stoppers.  If we don't have them, we can't release.
Other things are eye candy or contribute to the atmosphere.  It won't ruin the game not to have them.
Nice to have's.  These things would be great if someone can do them.  If we don't find anyone, we can work around or forget the task..

The Project Task link to the left is what you should be looking at.  This contains the full list of everything we need to do.  Unfortunately, it isn't complete.  Please send me any tasks you think are missing from this list.
