Companions

Summary of Companions:

At times, the player may want to join up with a companion or group in order to complete some quests.  The companion may be a mercenary or someone the player is protecting.

Requirements:

These are pie in the sky requirements.

  1. Companions must be able to go anywhere with the player until the player releases them.
  2. The game needs a way of knowing what companions are currently associated with the player and when they are released.
  3. Companions should be able to level up along with the player???
  4. What else?

Issues:

Companions get lost during some forms of travel.  Siltrider, boat, etc seems to have them follow.  At least those people you escort do follow.  Not sure about actual companions which are defined in Tribunal or Bloodmoon.

Possibly have an amulet or something else that is set in the player's inventory.  When the companion gets lost, activating the amulet will instantly transport the companion to the player's side.

Other mods have been praised by having something else, like a spell to cast.  This allowed them to hot key it more easily.  Could do this instead.
