The Wheel of Time Mod is a total conversion of the
game Morrowind/Oblivion into a game that takes place in the world of the
Wheel Of Time, a world created by Robert Jordan.
We originally were going to make this mod using the
Morrowind engine but with the announcement of the next game in the Elder
Scrolls series, Oblivion, we have decided to wait and mod the game with the
Oblivion engine. There are many reasons we have decided to switch
gears. Oblivion will be out in a year. We could have never
completed this mod by that time and would then have released a game with
what most people would think was an obsolete engine.
We have a lot of design to complete before we can
start modding the world into something that is faithful to the WOT.
The farther we got into this project, the more things we saw needed to be
designed. Modding now would create a game that is inconsistent in look
with uneven transition from region to region, incompatible with the books in
many areas, and basically less than what we desire. An extra year or
so of design will allow us to concentrate on creating that game according to
well thought out specifications. Many of the gameplay and story
elements will be worked out by the time we start. The setting will be
designed to guarantee that every plant, person, interior set, exterior set,
spell, animal, clothing, and faction is Wheel of Time faithful.

Many people have contributed to compiling information
about the Wheel of Time universe. In order to make a mod that will make
the player feel like they are in the right universe we are compiling as much
information as we can about everything. Everywhere we have used other's
compiled information we have asked for permission and if the makers are still
around, we have only used information as-is if we have gotten it. Here is
a list of the contributing sites and a legend of how to detect that information
on this site.
The WOT Encyclopedia is used extensively in our
design. We link to it everywhere. Much of the skeleton structure
of the geography is taken from this site. The list of characters and
factions are also taken from this sites. Since we use it so
extensively we have not formatted the information specifically.
The WOT Concordance has contributed to many, many
book locations of information regarding WOT. At this time we have
copied text directly, with the book location.
- We have bulleted it and formatted it in bone
color like this sentence. Book locations are numbered in Roman
Numerals. (I:253, IV:345) - example pointers.
Later we will add or replace the copied text
pointers with actual information from the books. Most of the copied
text from the Concordance just says something like "desc of x". We
will replace that with the actual description found in the location.
We will still leave some kind of marker to credit the Concordance.
None of our team's researched book quotes contains
story information. It is all quotes that describe places or things.
Later it may be restructured to only contain the important descriptive
information without the exact wording from the book. Our own research
and quotes from the books is formatted like this:
book and page number in white Book quote in blue text, first line in paragraph indented,
middle of the sentence shown with three periods....
Comments in white and italics.
Example:
TEotW, Chapter 14, pg 193 (paperback) Inside, the inn was every bit as busy as the sounds coming
from it had indicated and more. The party from Emond's Field followed
Master Fitch through the back door, soon weaving around and between a constant
stream of mean and women in long aprons, platters of food and trays of drink
held high. (Sounds like they came right into a hall that went from
kitchen to the common room.)
